SOE&PSS1 Part Ways; EU Players Invited Back [EverQuest II]

UPDATE : If you signed up for the EverQuest Next (not Landmark ) beta through PSS1, make sure you re-apply for the beta via SOE . The 2.5 year-long SOE and ProSiebenSat.1 partnership is finally coming to a close. It was met with controversy back when it was announced in January 2012, spurring a huge feedback thread that had even players not affected by it upset, and caused others to stop playing SOE games entirely. A couple of months after a 30-60 day transition warning was released, the lack of cohesion and foresight in the original agreement caused PSS1 and SOE go back to the table (though'lessons learned from DCUO's transition'was the proported reasoning), kicking off a delay that resulted in current EU SOE accounts not being forced to migrate to PSS1. After all the pain the community went through, the integration finally went into effect on June 20, 2013. ALL EverQuest 2 Servers will come down on June 10th, 2014 at 7:00 AM Pacific Time for an update. The expected downtime is approximately two hours. The patch notes are below. WEEKLY FEATURE The New Tunaria Warzone is now available on the Battlegrounds Server via a portal in Champion's Respite. GENERAL The Loyalty Merchant and Loyalty Marketplace will now correctly sell adornments that are below maximum level. A small bag of platinum coins will now sell for the correct amount of platinum if purchased off of the loyalty section of the marketplace. Level up, Gear up...discord style! For the duration of the"Gear Up! Level Up!"promotion, Havoc Marks and Marks of Devastation will be awarded at twice the rate. US servers will come down on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 7am Pacific Time for an update. The expected downtime is approximately one hour. EU servers will come down beginning at 9pm PT (6am CET May 30th) for the same update. Anticipated EU downtime is two hours. You'll find the patch notes after the jump. WEEKLY FEATURE The first round of Battlegrounds matchmaker fixes is live! Teams will now be more fair numbers wise. No more 24 reds against 3 blues! NOTE: teams could be a little off if not everyone picked to be on your team accepts the match. However, backfills will go to the lowest team first so as more people queue to fill in the backfills it will work to even up the teams. The getting dropped into Champion's Respite instead of going straight to your match from your home server is still not fixed. The City Festival Starts Tonight! [EverQuest II]

Tomorrow is the beginning of June, bringing us the Halas City Festival ! The festival begins on June 1st at 12:01am PDT and runs until June 7th at 11:59pm PDT. You can find the Far Seas Caravan in New Halas next to the Cairn of the Huntress. Visit the Far Seas caravan merchants to see all of the local specialities and other festival goods , and don't forget to check out the four City Festival achievements (listed under Live Events in your journal). An Aether Race will also be available in Frostfang Sea during the festival. Participate and achieve a time of 104 seconds or less to earn the Snowflake Chaser prefix title! Begin the race by speaking to the referee on the Erollis Docks.

SOE Announces G.I.R.L. Scholarship Winner [General News]

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that Erin Loelius of Manasquan, NJ, has been named the winner of the 2014 Gamers in Real Life (G.I.R.L.) Scholarship. She has been awarded a $10,000 scholarship for her college tutition and will have a 10-week paid internship at SOE this summer, working on both Landmark and EverQuest Next . "I grew up playing games, so inspiration from video games has always found a way into my art, and that's what makes this internship opportunity so amazing and fitting,"said 2014 G.I.R.L. winner Erin Loelius."Someday I hope to collaborate on games with the same quirkiness and whimsy of games I grew up on. I'd love to create something that pushes people's imaginations and makes them remember their gaming childhood."
