Qho's Fan Faire Adventures! [EverQuest II]  from ZAM News (full)

Qho Augren, the perennial swimmer of the Village of Shin, is well-known among the many who have had the misfortune of crossing his path. He has nagged us time and time again to bring him back a multitude of harvests whenever we returned to him. The most recent Gathering Obsession quest had a unique twist however: Qho became a pet that follows us around! I'm sure many people had fun jumping off of cliffs or battled the nastiest of beasts with him in tow, but I saw the opportunity to teach Qho more about harvesting... and the world beyond. Qho has now visited a wide variety of places with me, posed for many pictures and even provided a point of amusement as unsuspecting players on my server have hailed my Qho pet over and over, likely wondering why he didn't give them a quest. I've had Qho as a pet since March and have taken him out for several unique adventures since that time. The Far Seas Caravan toted their goods across the lush lands of Greater Faydark, setting up their tents on the Green Knoll for the Kelethin City Festival . Three new specialty items are available and can be purchased from Chris Weathers. The Flying Freebooters have joined the festivities and a new Aether Racing course is also available this month. The aether race and city festival run concurrently and both end at 11:59pm PDT on August 7th. A celebration of gnomish gizmos and gadgets is in full swing at Gnomeland Security Headquarters in Steamfont Mountains. New rewards, recipes, merchant items and a quest highlight the festivities this year. Tinkerfest will conclude at 11:59pm PDT on August 8th. We had a blast at SOE Fan Faire 2011 last month, but it's already time to start planning out next year's convention! Community Relations Project Manager Aimee"Ashlanne"Rekoske has confirmed that Fan Faire 2012 will once again be held at Bally’s in Las Vegas. There are three openings available at the hotel in the fall, and SOE needs your help with picking the dates . Here are the possibilities: September 13-16, 2012 September 27-30, 2012 October 18-21, 2012 The poll will remain open until August 19 at 10 a.m. PDT, so make your voice heard ! The weekend in October currently has a substantial lead, but that could easily change as more players cast their votes. Also, you may be wondering why the 2012 dates aren't in the summer. The Splitpaw server will have its hotfix at 5am London Time on Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Estimated downtime is 2 hours. Unrest, Guk and Everfrost will be taken offline at 2am PDT on August 2nd and are expected to be down for 6 hours . This extended downtime is for hardware upgrades to those servers. The Splitpaw server will have its hotfix at 5am London Time on Thursday, July 28, 2011. Estimated downtime is 2 hours. The full patch notes are available after the jump. LIVE EVENTS Dragon Ring and Wizard Spire Rebuild Events   Entering the event area should now check what quests the player has and what stage the event is on. If the player has a quest from a previous stage the quest should be updated. If the player does not have the current quest it will be offered to the player. For the final encounter in both events when a player engages the encounter they will be offered the quest for that encounter if they do not have it already. The Wizard Spire Replica should now be purchasable for 25 tokens if the event has been completed. The Pocket Wizard Spire is now heirloom instead of no trade. ...

EverQuest II players will enjoy a true double XP (+100% XP) promotion this coming weekend!  According to everquest2.com the bonus applies to all AA, tradeskill and adventure experience gained this weekend. The French, German, Japanese, Test and EQ2 Extended servers will also be enjoying the increase in XP gain. Bonus XP will turn on at 12:01am PDT on Friday, July 29, and run until 11:59pm PDT on Sunday, July 31.

It's time for Tinkerfest , the Norrathian celebration of all things Gnomish! Your EQII ZAM staff has gotten the scoop on all the new additions to this popular live event. This year features new recipes, a new quest, more goodies and new rewards. Don't forget to hone your skills in the Gnomish language! Tinkerfest will run from 12:01am PDT on July 29th through 11:59pm PDT on August 8th.
