Sony Online Entertainment has announced a system-wide maintenance on Thursday November 1, 2012 starting at 5am Pacific. This three hour maintenance will impact the following services: Login for all SOE games may be affected. Commerce transactions, including purchases on SOE websites and in-game marketplaces, may be unavailable. Account management may be unavailable. The City Festival Starts Tonight! [EverQuest II]

Tomorrow is the beginning of November, bringing us the Freeport City Festival ! The festival is planned to start on November 1st at 12:01am PDT and run until November 7th at 11:59pm PST. You can find the Far Seas Caravan in the Commonlands between the Crossroads and the Freeport Griffon Tower. Sanya Farshore, the General Goods merchant, is proud to continue featuring Bags of Teleportation Pads in her inventory. They cost 20 City Tokens, with each bag holding two Teleportation Pads . Visit the Far Seas caravan merchants to see all of the local specialities and other festival goods . An Aether Race will also be available in Commonlands during the festival. Participate and achieve a time of 119 seconds or less to earn the Portal Jumper prefix title! Begin the race by speaking to the referee near the docks.

During SOE Live, Sony Online Entertainment 's yearly fan convention, they announced a totally new in-game item. This item, called a"Krono"adds 30 days of premium game time to the Station account of the character that consumes it. A Krono can be gifted, sold, traded, and purchased by other players. It also has no expiration date. Currently, the Krono is only available in EverQuest II , though it will be added to more game titles later on. Best of all, it's finally on sale! We chose ten of our favorite screenshots, four of which are grand prize winners that will also receive Station Cash codes along with the Royal Mummy Wrappings prize. Today SOE announced two updates concerning the Chains of Eternity Collector's Edition. First is that SOE Live attendees (all of whom will receive the standard edition already for free) have the option of a $20 upgrade to the Collector's Edition of the expansion during the pre-order period . Explained on the forums by Dexella: For SOE Live attendees, you will be able to pre-order an upgrade to the Collector's Edition for $20.00. If you want to upgrade your free Standard Edition to the Collector's Edition, you'll need to go through the regular pre-order process and select the Collector's Edition. You will see the current price ($59.99 USD or foreign currency equivalent) as well as a footnote indicating the price for SOE Live attendees is set at $20.00 (USD or foreign currency equivalent). SOE has been transitioning their official game forums to new software, and next on the slate is EverQuest II. When this change occurs on November 9, 2012 , the old forums will become locked and read-only for a limited period of time. Players will need to re-register on the new forums. SOE will not be transferring any of the old forum posts over, but we have word that Feldon at EQ2Wire has been working on backing up every post over there. The U.S. servers will come down on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 7:00 am Pacific for a hotfix. EU servers will come down on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at 5:00 am London Time. The expected downtime for both US and EU servers is one hour. Here's our Time Zone Conversion Tool to help you plan. Patch notes are available after the jump. ZONE PROGRESSION / POPULATION Current Raid Zones Due to an exploit, raid zones now have a hard 2.8 day [ 2 days 20 hours] lockout timer. Timers will expire naturally and are no longer able to be reset. This will include all Velious and future Raid zones. Plane of War is now a hard 4.8 day [4 days 20 hours] lockout timer. PSS1: No Forced Migration for Current Customers [EverQuest II]

A short time ago, SOE President John Smedley announced on Twitter that current EU players will not be forced over to ProSiebenSat.1 and will keep their SOE accounts. After the games are officially launched by ProSieben, new EU accounts will still have to be created on PSS1's sites. Here is his full announcement: Wanted to thank our players for continuing feedback. We've been listening along with our European partners at Prosieben. We've found a way to let existing players of our current games that are migrating over to Prosieben (EQ, EQ II, Planetside 2) keep their SOE accounts and stay with SOE. Down the road we may offer an option to move over to Prosieben. Just to be clear after these games launch on Prosieben's service new accounts will be created on their sites. However all US and EU players can still play together no matter which service they are on. I want to be clear that Prosieben will have better European CS and payment options IMO.
