SOE will be performing maintenance beginning at 2:30 AM Pacific on February 28, 2012. This will impact the following services: Account management will be unavailable starting at 2:30 AM to approximately 8:00 AM Pacific. Commerce transactions, including purchases on our websites and in-game marketplaces will be unavailable between 2:30 AM to approximately 8:00 AM Pacific. Forums will be read-only starting at 2:30 AM to approximately 7:00 AM Pacific. Login for our games will be affected from 2:30 AM to 7:00 AM Pacific (players already logged in should not be impacted. While there's been no announcement, hotfix notes have been published for Tuesday, February 28. There is also an extended SOE Maintenance Tuesday which may affect services starting at 2:30am PST to approximately 8:00am PST. Here's the patch notes: GENERAL The beastlord bar will now use the tooltip delay for hotbars rather than the default tooltip delay. ZONE PROGRESSION / POPULATION Vallon’s Tower [Non-Challenge] Normal Mode Vallon Zek should now drop 2 breastplate patterns. Sullon’s Spire [Non-Challenge] Normal Mode Hragdold the Frenzied should now also drop 2 bracer patterns.

SOE Sunsets Four Game Services [EverQuest Online Adventures]

Sony Online Entertainment announced today on the EverQuest Online Adventures website that it is closing four of its game services: EQOA , Cosmic Rift , Infantry , and Star Chamber: The Harbinger Saga . These games will close for good on March 29, 2012 . EQOA players will be granted 3 months of Gold Membership in both EverQuest and EverQuest II . These gold memberships will be available starting on Friday, March 16, 2012. You can find out more about the end of EQOA in the official EQOA Closure FAQ . The City Festival Starts Tonight! [EverQuest II]

Tomorrow is the beginning of March, bringing us the Neriak City Festival ! The festival should start on March 1st at 12:01am PST and run until March 7th at 11:59pm PST. You can find the Far Seas Caravan in Darklight Wood outside of Neriak. Neriak's festival features new building blocks and a roof tile on the specialty merchant. They cost two City Tokens each and come in a wide variety. Visit the Far Seas caravan merchants to see all of the local specialities and other festival goods . An Aether Race will also be available in Darklight Wood during the festival. Participate and achieve a time of 89 seconds or less to earn the Fearless Flyer prefix title! Begin the race by speaking to the referee near the festival caravans .

EQII Character Select Returns to the Launch Pad! [General News]

Character Select now works again in the EverQuest II LaunchPad! Characters that have been logged into game within the last few months will be present in the" Select a Character "dropdown and displayed in the order of last played. If the account has no characters on it, or you have no account logged in at all, nothing will be displayed. If you have more than 5 characters in the list you can cycle through them via the NEXT and BACK options at the bottom of the display. You can find the"Select a Character"dropdown in the upper right of the EQII LaunchPad. Additionally there were a few bug fixes, the most obvious of which is that the"Remember Me"checkbox option is no longer persistant if you change between accounts. These changes are automatically applied and you should see them the next time you open the LaunchPad. source: LaunchPad Forums

When Sony Online Entertainment announced their partnership with ProSiebenSat.1 to distribute SOE games in Europe the SOE gaming communities exploded with questions and concerns. Today SOE released a FAQ which answers those questions. Highlights include the segregation of Euroean and American servers, and the exclusion of the original EverQuest from the deal. All U.S. servers will come down on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 7am PST for a hotfix. The expected downtime is one hour. EU servers will have their update at 5am London Time on Friday, February 24, 2012. Estimated downtime is two hours. Additionally, the Freeport server will have an eight hour maintenance starting at 4am PST on Thursday, February 23, 2012. Here are the patch notes: MERCENARIES Mercenaries should do much less damage in PVP combat. This should have no affect PVE combat. ZONE PROGRESSION / POPULATION Plane of War The Enraged War Boar now stands guard near the zone entry.
