The EverQuest II team has been debating some hot topics ever since the Free-to-Play changeover was announced on Thursday. Yesterday evening Executive Producer Dave Georgeson addressed several concerns that the playerbase have expressed. Continue reading below for the very lengthy answers to these hot topics! 1) Will current Platinum subscribers get"Age of Discovery"for free? The answer is"yes" . Platinum users technically only get"Destiny of Velious"as part of their membership, but we do remember the conversations that occurred before launch where we had talked about *possibly* giving expansions for free to Platinum. We understand why people think they should be getting AoD for free, and we are"doing the right thing"by making that happen. However,"Age of Discovery"is the last expansion that will be given for free to Platinum members because we are now discontinuing the Platinum service after this. All U.S. servers will come down for a hotfix at 7am PST on Tuesday, November 8, 2011. The expected downtime is one hour. EU servers will have their hotfix at 5am BST on Wednesday, November 9, 2011. I tried to think of a witty way to bring this news to the masses, but after an hour of pondering terrible opening lines (EverQuest II now Free-To-Quest… 2!), I think I've finally settled on just telling you straight: EverQuest II is going free-to-play. There. I said it. The Commonlands became a flurry of activity this month as the Far Seas caravans rolled in, offering their wares for the Freeport City Festival . The Flying Freebooters have joined the festivities and the Aether Racing course is once again available this month. The Aether Race and City Festival run concurrently and both end at 11:59pm PST on November 7th. Nights of the Dead will soon come to a close for the year. A new quest, Survive the Night , challenges players in a flora versus undead battle. New decorations, goodies and a crafting scroll are available from the Nights of the Dead merchants. The event is slated to turn off at 11:59pm PST on Monday, November 7th. EverQuest II turns seven years old this month and, in celebration of this event, both Freeport and Qeynos will once again host the Heroes'Festival . The City Festival Starts Tonight! [EverQuest II]

Tomorrow is the beginning of November, bringing us the Freeport City Festival ! The festival is planned to start on November 1st at 12:01am PDT and run until November 7th at 11:59pm PST. You can find the Far Seas Caravan in the Commonlands between the Crossroads and the Freeport Griffon Tower. No new items are available this month. Visit the Far Seas caravan merchants to see all of the local specialities and other festival goods. An Aether Race will also be available in Commonlands during the festival. Participate and achieve a time of 119 seconds or less to earn the Portal Jumper prefix title! Begin the race by speaking to the referee near the docks.
