All U.S. servers will come down for a hotfix at 7am PDT on Thursday, March 31, 2011. The expected downtime is one hour. The Splitpaw server will have its hotfix at 5am London Time on Friday, April 1st, 2011. Estimated downtime is 2 hours. The full patch notes are available after the hop. SOE Confirms Studio Closures, Death of The Agency [The Agency]

UPDATE: SOE has officially announced that"it will eliminate 205 positions and close its Denver, Seattle and Tucson studios."The company is discontinuing production of The Agency so it can"focus development resources on delivering two new MMOs based on its renowned PlanetSide and EverQuest properties." It's current portfolio of games will not be affected. Check out the full announcement after the jump. According to Kotaku, Sony Online Entertainment has closed three studios and will lay off nearly one third of its workforce . While SOE hasn't released an official statement, Kotaku says they confirmed through"a source familiar with the matter"that the closures affect the Seattle, Tucson and Denver offices. In addition, the source stated that numerous employees in the Austin and San Diego offices have also been let go from their positions. The Highest of Silly Days - April 1st Only! [EverQuest II]

Tomorrow is April Fools Day, marking the Highest of Silly Days for the Bristlebane Day celebration. Two quests are only available on this day, both given by the sphinx Imenand in Enchanted Lands. Test your brain by trying to solve his many riddles and take a gamble at your choice of rewards. Players can also harvest from the Jester's Superior Gardens on this day, which can be found in Enchanted Lands only. These gardens give harvests from every holiday event that has crafting, so be sure you have a lot of spare backpack space! Those wanting to sneak in some mid-year Frostfell crafting can do so as well. The Highest of Silly Days will run from 12:01am PDT through 11:59pm PDT on April 1st.

The City Festival Starts Tonight! [EverQuest II]

Tomorrow is the beginning of April, bringing us the Qeynos City Festival ! The festival begins on April 1st at 12:01am PDT and runs until April 7th at 11:59pm PDT. You can find the Far Seas Caravan in Antonica just beyond the bridge to North Qeynos. This month you can pick up four new Qeynos themed house items: Inlaid Qeynos Door , Qeynos Fancy Lamppost , Qeynos Short Lamp and White Marble Pedestal Table . Visit the Far Seas caravan merchants to see all of the local specialities and other festival goods. The Far Sea Trading Company has caught wind of the popularity of the recent Aether Races and have arranged for each city festival to have one of its own! The first one will kick off this month in Antonica and be available throughout the event. Begin the race by speaking to the referee near the Coldwind Point Lighthouse. Japan Relief Effort Items Back in Marketplace [EverQuest II]

Players can once again donate to the relief effort in Japan through the Marketplace! The Memory of Spring statue returned early this afternoon, which is available for 500 Station Cash. A new item appeared alongside it, the Gift of Falling Blossoms , which costs 200 Station Cash. For each of these items purchased between March 25th and March 28th, SOE will donate $10 to the American Red Cross. To purchase either item, go into the Marketplace in game (by using the /marketplace command or the EQII game menu) and choose the"Japan Relief Effort"category. The items are not lore so you can purchase multiples if you are so inclined.

These times apply directly with no time conversion to all servers. Qho's Brewday Adventures! [EverQuest II]

Many adventurers and crafters have had the misfortune of crossing Qho Augren's path while working on the Gathering Obsession series. The infamous brat of Mara nagged us to bring him back more and more harvests every time we returned to him. Yet we put up with his nagging just so we could earn the Cloak of the Harvester, and once that was obtained, we hoped to never lay our eyes on him again. However, in Destiny of Velious he worms his way back into our lives. Any level 90 crafter who had assisted him in the past receives a letter in the mail from him begging for us to pay him a visit. With much chagrin many of us returned to Qho, who is still swimming in the pond at the Village of Shin, only to be once again sent out to get him even more harvests. We embarked on the Return of a Gathering Obsession , again in hopes that it would sate his interests once and for all. Tomorrow will introduce a Chronoportal event to commemorate Norrath's past. Patch notes for March 23rd are listed below. All U.S. servers will go down at 7am PDT for a 1 hour hotfix. The Splitpaw server will go down on March 24th at 4am London Time for a 2 hour hotfix. LIVE EVENTS Chronoportals have opened in multiple locations across Norrath! They are said to lead to an ancient time. These phenomena are being researched by Chronomancers who will reward adventurers brave enough to venture inside. Event Start Times: US Servers: 10 AM PST International Servers: 9PM PST Known issues (to be fixed on 3/24): Allizewsaur does not have his sounds fully implemented. Quillmane has a stutter in its wings when it is descending. ITEMS Mount whistles with a limited number of charges will no longer remove the mount buff when the last charge is consumed.
