EverQuest II Producer's Letter: Heroic Characters [EverQuest II]

EverQuest II players have been waiting for more information regarding Heroic Characters since their announcement back in July at SOE Live. Earlier this afternoon, Holly"Windstalker"Longdale posted a Producer's Letter that dishes out the scoop on this feature. Some brief points of this include: A"full"Heroic Character is level 85 (current cap is 95) with 280 Alternate Advancement (AA) points (current cap is 320). Existing and new players may create one free Heroic Character between October 1 and October 15, 2013. Existing accounts created on or before September 22, 2013 may create one per account; accounts created on or after September 23, 2013 are limited to one per household. Existing characters can be"upgraded" After the free period of Oct 1 - Oct 15, the cost of this feature is 3500 Station Cash (SC; valued at $35USD) After the free period of Oct 1 - Oct 15, players can use a"free trial"which temporarily grants level 85 and 100 AAs. Servers will come down on Tuesday, September 24 at 7:00am Pacific for an update. The expected downtime is one hour. Patch notes are available after the jump. GENERAL Resolved a common issue that would cause Call of Veteran (and other travel methods) to think players were still in combat when they were not. POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION The Dreadcutter: The Pirate Kings [Raid] The encounter should no longer occasionally reset when witchdoctors spawn. BATTLEGROUNDS Gears of Klak'Anon Damage from the relic will no longer be attributed to the player holding it.

In today's EverQuest II Producer's Letter , Holly"Windstalker"Longdale brought exciting news about the Age of Discovery expansion and upcoming changes to the Membership Matrix. On October 1 Age of Discovery features will be available individually or as a bundle for Station Cash in the in-game Marketplace. Those who did not want to buy the entire expansion can now choose only the features they want as follows: Beastlord: 2500 SC Mercenaries: 1500 SC Tradeskill Apprentice: 1000 SC Reforging: 1000 SC Dungeon Maker: 1000 SC Bundle of all the above features: 4000 SC On the Membership front item restrictions are being removed from Free and Silver accounts. Gold accounts are getting permanent increases to Coin Loot (15% increase) and Mount Speed (10% increase) added to their membership benefits. These changes also happen October 1. Qeynos City Festival: October 1 - 7 [EverQuest II]

October is nearly here and with it the Qeynos City Festival will return to Norrath! The festival will run from October 1 at 12:01am PDT through October 7 at 11:59pm PDT. It can be found near the bridge to North Qeynos in Antonica. Visit the Far Seas caravan merchants to see all of the local specialities and other festival goods . An Aether Race will also be available in Antonica during the festival. Participate and achieve a time of 134 seconds or less to earn the Bridge Buzzer prefix title! Begin the race by speaking to the referee near the Coldwind Point Lighthouse.

The EverQuest 2 Servers will come down on Tuesday, October 1st at 7:00AM Pacific Time for an update. The expected downtime is approximately 5 hours . Emergency Downtime - October 1, 2013 [EverQuest II]

UPDATE 3:30pm PDT : The emergency downtime will begin at 3:43pm PDT and last for approximately 30 minutes. All servers will come down for this update. UPDATE 2:24pm PDT : An in-game notice just went out stating that servers will be"coming down shortly"and that there will be a 15-minute notification. An emergency downtime was just announced on the EQ2 forums: All servers will come down at 1:30 PM PT for a brief update to address an outstanding issue with Heroic Characters. Downtime is anticipated to be approximately 30 minutes. In the interim players should avoid completing the Heroic Character quests until this maintenance is completed. Holly"Windstalker"Longdale mentioned the downtime on Twitter as well: Servers will come down for approx. 30 min at 1:30/2pm. New Heroic Char. quest items didn't get updated properly. :(

At this summer’s SOE Live convention EverQuest II players were first introduced to the concept of Heroic Characters, an instant level-85 character that came equipped with level-appropriate gear. It was met with mixed reactions and over the following months players have demanded more information on the feature. Early last week a Producer’s Letter was released that dished out a lot of information, including the revelation that all Destiny of Velious content (which includes additional content spanning at least four game updates) will be made free for all players. Like any information that is released into the EQII community, the letter was met a large flurry of questions. All servers will come down at 7am Pacific for an update. Estimated downtime is one hour. Here are the patch notes: GENERAL Level range chat channels have been retired; in their place, General, LFG, and High Level chat channels have been added. The High Level channel is available starting at level 80. HEROIC CHARACTERS Heroic Characters that did not receive their heroic gear after logging in should receive it the next time they log in that character. Resolved an issue when trying to create a Heroic Character with a name that is invalid or already taken. ITEMS Superior Metallic Hoop of the Void should now trigger properly. The Superior Djinn Bracelet of the Sky now has an additional 275 Ability Modifier, 26 Focus, Disruption and Subjugation and 2% Doublecast.

With convention season coming to a close, the Senior Producer of Everquest Next , Terry Michaels , comes center stage with details regarding the upcoming Everquest Next: Landmark . During the initial reveal of EQ Next it was hinted that Landmark would be an"extension"of sorts to the main game, where players would be free to roam the world and begin building terrain and structures from the ground up. In this latest EQ Next Producer's Letter video, Terry talks a little about what details fans can expect to be unveiled in the coming months leading up to the EQ Next: Landmark beta. While the launch of Everquest Next may be a little ways off, Everquest Next: Landmark is set begin beta this winter. The US servers will come down on Tuesday, September 17 at 7:00am Pacific for an update. The expected downtime is one hour. EU servers will also come down on Tuesday, September 17 at 9:00pm Pacific with an estimated downtime of one hour. Patch notes are available after the jump. ITEMS When examining a pre-adorned item, the classes that can equip the item should properly display. BATTLEGROUNDS Gears of Klakanon The damage received from holding the relic has been reduced. The relic now gives a toughness debuff that increases in effectiveness over time. The relic now gives a lethality buff that degenerates over time, eventually becoming negative. The amount of points required to win has been reduced to 650.
